One Ride – Two Towns – June 10, 2023

It was a beautiful day for a ride! Eleven Kitties met at the QT at 21st and K96.

We had a guest rider today. Susan brought her friend, Dally (Dallas). Kari said it would be great if she joined our club we could call her “Dilly.”  Obviously I got a kick out of that. Lol

Unfortunately, poor Maureen’s battery died after getting gas. Melaina and Brenda stayed back with her as they waited on Christine’s husband, Dorrin, to come to the rescue. I’m not positive on all the details of how everything worked out. All I know is we were happy to see the three of them roll into the parking lot of Genova’s safely.

Sheryl took lead on this 4-hour ride. From east Wichita to Council Grove with a quick gas up, then went back the way we came and dropped south to Newton from Cassoday. She did a phenomenal job getting all of us to our destination! Thank you, Sheryl. Donna swept and was helpful on the way to Genova’s when Dilly’s glasses went flying down the road. Luckily, they found them and were able to catch up quickly!

Genova’s had our back area ready for us. We walked in and was instantly greeted with “Kitties, how was your ride? It’s good to see you!” from our favorite waitress.
Kathryn, Bobbie, Stella, Cina and Tina met us at the restaurant.

Did I mention it was a beautiful day for a ride? Just making sure. ☺️ It actually got a little chilly during our ride, but we were so thankful the rain stayed away.
We definitely missed our club photographer!

Thank, you ladies, for a wonderful day!

April Road Trip and Tutu Day

The much anticipated first ride of the season and Tutu Day is almost here! Let the fun begin!

Don’t have a tutu? No problem! Susan Clasen-Tiede or Kathryn Boyd Langrehr are both expert tutu makers and will whip one up for you. Just reach out to either one of them if you haven’t already. Don’t want to wear a tutu? No problem! This is a “only if you wanna” activity.

You might have noticed from the restaurant location that we are pointing our noses to Council Grove instead of Altoona. Those darn small town restaurants have a tendency to not be open on Sundays and such was the case for our dining location in Altoona. We’ll save that for another time.

We have another special surprise planned for this ride (as if being in tutus wasn’t special enough!) Prior to leaving for the ride, we’re going to make a quick detour to the Douglas Avenue Assembly of God Church to have our bikes and riding season blessed by Pastor Clayton Barth, who is my son. There’s no better way to begin our season than to ask God to watch over us and keep us safe, so we will make this blessing an every April event.

Here are the details:

Meeting location: the QuikTrip at 13th and West St. – 3933 W. 13th St.
Meeting time: 9:15 am with kickstands up at 9:45 am SHARP. We MUST leave on time so we don’t interfere with church services that morning. We will ride the short distance to the church, which is in the Douglas and West St. area.
Lunch: Hays House in Council Grove. You can preview the menu at the link below.
Distance: 98 miles one way. If there are Sportsters in the group, we will make one gas stop along the way and coming home.
14 Day Forecast: partly sunny with a high of 70, winds at 10-20 mph.
What you need to bring: black shirts for the 15th anniversary logo and any other shirts that you want to have kittified with the standard Kitty logo at the July printing. Cash for the 50/50 drawing (6 tickets for $5.00.)
What I will bring: special order patches or items not already delivered. Any Kitty shirts from the March printing not already delivered. A supply of bandanas, kitty patches and pins.

Kathryn Langrehr will lead and Suz Tiede will sweep.

Please RSVP by Wednesday, April 10th.
