April Road Trip and Tutu Ride – Zenda, KS

April 17, 2021 @ 10:00 am

Meeting location: The QuikTrip at W. Kellogg and Maize Rd. – 1500 S. Maize Rd.
Meeting time: 10:00 am with kickstands up at 10:30 am.
Distance: 54 miles one way from the departure location.
Lunch: Lumber Yard Steakhouse
What you need to bring: Cash for the 50/50 drawing (six tickets for $5.00.) If you have orders that I will be delivering, I’ll contact you in advance so you are prepared to bring payment for that.
13 Day Forecast: partly sunny skies with a high of 71°.
What I will bring: Any orders from the Kitty Mall that are ready (patches, name badges, etc.) I’ve decided to no longer carry my stuffed to the brim tote bag with bandanas, Kitty Kaps, patches, decals and pins. If you need something, please place your order before April 16th.
Lead Rider(s): Nellie Taylor. Dawn Morse will also lead if we need to be split into two groups.
Sweep Riders: Kim Jones and Kathryn Langrehr.
Tutus: For those of you who are new to the Club, we have made it a tradition to ride in tutus on the first ride of the season. Of course, you are not obligated to do this, but it’s quite a sight to have a large group of women bikers riding on the highway and walking into a restaurant in biker gear AND colorful tutus. Because April can be cool and require chaps, we just wear our tutus over them. Most likely you don’t happen to have a tutu hanging in your closet, but not to worry! We have a plan to help you get one made in time for this ride. Dawn Morse has offered to hold a tutu-making workshop in her home this Sunday, April 11th. If you wish to participate in this, please contact her directly for the details. Her cell number is 316-641-4081.
RSVP: Please RSVP by no later than noon Friday, April 9th. I cannot stress enough the importance of RSVPing on time, whether you are going or not. Restaurants are still not operating at 100% capacity so they ABSOLUTELY HAVE to have an accurate headcount and they need it sooner than they used to. If you don’t indicate what you are doing by the deadline,  will have to assume you are not going. With a group as large as ours, I cannot follow up with individual Kitties to find out what you are doing. To then have Kitties RSVP past the deadline or show up unexpectedly the morning of the ride puts the restaurant and us in a difficult situation. The same is true for those who indicate they are going and then cancel at the last minute or don’t show up. It’s unfair to the restaurant who buys food for a certain number only to have that number be less when we arrive. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RSVP on time.
I’m going to start sending an email out every time an Event is posted on this page. Hopefully, this will also catch all those who are not regular Facebook checkers so they can RSVP on time.
I’ve contacted the restaurant in Zenda and gave them a preliminary headcount. Based on that, we may have to pre-order one of three meats. They are going to let me know about that tomorrow and if that’s the case, I’ll follow up with a separate post.
