2025 Mixer: Cult Classic Movie Night
Kitties grabbed bags of props, and enjoyed the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show Century II for the October Mixer. Who knew the Kitties could dance like that?!?
Last night was an especially fun Meow Mixer at Mary Jane Teall Theater at Century II. It was the 50th anniversary showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Ten of us met together in front of Century II in pleasantly cool temperatures. Costumes were encouraged, but not required. One kitty did dress up as Janet. Rain was in the forecast so Susan and Sheryl shuttled several of us who had planned to walk to the meeting place before and then took us back to our cars after the show.
Once we got inside it was time to pick up prop bags and refreshments. The prop bag included instructions for the use of the following items: a water gun, confetti bag, toilet paper, party hat, party blowers, a newspaper, a deck of cards and a finger light.
After we got seated (thank you Jennifer for getting in and saving us seats in the best spot there, dead center!), there were a couple of hosts with microphones keeping everyone entertained. They were running all through the crowd looking for virgins. Virgins in this case are any persons who had never attended a live screening of Rocky Horror. When someone was outed, or voluntarily revealed themselves to be a virgin, they would get a nice red lipstick V drawn on their foreheads. We had several in our group, one who avoided the mark of the V.
The hosts warmed up the crowd further by calling up several virgins and had them read some racy portions out of a few books. They also explained a little more about the prop bags and what to shout out each time you heard the names Brad and Janet. IYKYK.
The movie surprised the virgins in our group but everyone had a good time. The audience participation is a truly unique experience and worth being a part of at least once. When the movie concluded we gathered together for a photo in front of a large backdrop picturing the main characters of the show. This was a great Meow Mixer and for those of you who weren’t able to attend, you were missed. For the rest, “Let’s do the Time Warp AGAIN!”
