Frequently Asked Questions

How much experience do I need to ride with Krome Kitty Motorcycle Club?

None. We welcome new riders. However, if you don't have two years of current riding experience, we require that you successfully complete a certified Motorcycle Safety Riding course within 12 months prior to joining KKMC.

Where do the Krome Kitties ride?

We have scheduled rides on the first Saturday night of each month and the third Saturday or Sunday of each month during the riding season. We define the riding season to be April through October. The Saturday ride, known as the Meow Mixer, is a local lunch ride to a pre-determined restaurant.

The monthly ride is determined by using the alphabet. By following the ABC's, each member takes a turn in selecting a town in Kansas that starts with the next letter. For example, in our first riding season, we traveled to "A" Abilene; "B" Beaumont; and "C" Council Grove. The member in charge of selecting the destination also plans where to eat and what to do in that town, as well as the travel route.

How long are the rides?

The Saturday Meow Mixer typically lasts a couple of hours. The monthly Road Trips vary depending on the destination, but usually between 4 and 6 hours. We take regular rest and gas breaks while on the monthly Road Trips.

How do I know when and where to meet for the rides?

An email will be sent to all members when trip details are posted on the website. At that point, you can check the Member Only section for meeting times and places. For the Sunday Road Trips, we request that members arrive 15 minutes before the departure time. Bikes must also have a full tank of gas and be mechanically sound.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

We believe that wearing a helmet is a personal decision and therefore, do not have a helmet requirement.

Can my husband/boyfriend join me on a KKMC ride?

Sorry, no men allowed! At least not on a regular KKMC ride. We have one scheduled ride per season when we invite our husbands or boyfriends to join us. This is known as the Tom Kat ride.

I have a female friend who rides. Can I bring her on a ride unexpectedly?

You bet you can! We love meeting women riders and welcome members to bring their friends. We do require that guests become members if after two rides they want to continue to ride with KKMC.

Does KKMC support any charitable event?

Yes. At the beginning of each riding season, the club as a whole decides which charity to support that season. By selecting different charities each year, we feel all members will have an opportunity to support organizations that are important to them.

Is there a cost to join KKMC?

As the saying goes, there are no free rides! Members are asked to pay $30.00 when joining the club and then every April thereafter.

I can't wait to join KKMC. How can I become a Kitty?

It's easy. Simply print the Membership Application from the website and mail it to the P.O. Box listed on the application.  You can contact Janice (janice@kromekitty.com) or Lori (Lori@kromekitty.com) regarding any questions you might have regarding the Club or membership.  After we receive your application, we'll contact you for additional information.

If you don't have regular access to the internet - no problem. Just borrow a friend's email service to contact us initially. After that, we will communicate via phone and snail mail.
